The Power of Montessori Observation

The art of observation is not merely a tool for assessment but a guiding principle that empowers us to unlock the full potential of every child.

This invaluable practice allows us to tailor our teaching strategies to meet the individualized requirements of every child, creating an atmosphere where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

How Guided Questions Spark Lifelong Learning

Guided inquiry is the compass that navigates the child through the realms of wonder and knowledge, transforming their questions into meaningful and self-driven science and research projects.

This approach not only cultivates critical thinking skills but also instills a sense of ownership and intrinsic motivation in the learning process.

Elevate with Interdisciplinary Magic

Interdisciplinary aligns with the Montessori ethos of honoring the child's natural inclination to explore, discover, and make connections between different facets of knowledge.

An interdisciplinary approach sparks curiosity, promotes a love of learning, and prepares children to navigate the complexitieis of the world with a well-rounded perspective.

The Secret to Months of Science Sucess

In the realm of Montessori, while we honor and embrace the ever-changing interests of our children, we need a flexible yet well-thought-out outline and follow-up activities.

Creating a balanced framework between planning and adaptability ultimately creates an environment where guides and children can embark on a journey of discovery together.

Day 1: How Montessori Observation Transforms Learning

  • Observational skills are foundational to Montessori philosophy, promoting a deep understanding of each child's unique needs and abilities
  • Learn how to use observation to forge meaningful connections that address each child's learning style and pace
  • We'll practice together to develop our skills to incorporate Montessori observation into our teaching practices

"The 'a-ha' moments I've had through observation have been game-changers. It's a skill every educator should master." Lily V., Montessori teacher

Day 2: From Questions to Quests: Unleash the Power of Guided Inquiry

  • Learn how guided inquiry techniques open the door to a transformative teaching experience, fostering curiosity and active engagement
  • Harness this curiosity to drive meaningful, dynamic exploration and personalized learning.
  • Practice the technique together

"Guided inquiry turned my classroom into a hub of discovery. The students now lead the way, and learning has become a collaborative adventure." Alex T., Montessori Homeschooling Parent

Day 3: Interdisciplinary Brilliance

  • Gain a deep understanding of how weaving together various subjects nurtures critical thinking skills and encourages meaningful connections across disciplines.
  • Spark curiosity, promote a love of learning, and prepare children to navigate the complexities of the world with a well-rounded perspective.
  • Develop and implement interdisciplinary lessons, offering a pathway to transformative teaching experiences
  • Develop the skills to seamlessly do this with EVERY lesson

"Interdisciplinary teaching transformed my classroom. My students now see the world as a tapestry of knowledge, and they see how everything is interconnected." James W., Elementary School Teacher

Day 4: Teaching Simplified

  • Celebrate the ease of Ready-to-Go lesson plans! Save time, reduce stress, and have materials and procedures at your fingertips
    • Have the first Botany lesson ready to present the next day!
  • Ensure authentic translation of Montessori philosophy with a hands-on approach fostering a genuine love for learning
  • Be empowered to cultivate a dynamic and enjoyable teaching experience
  • Reflect in order to get unstuck with teaching science and start moving forward

"I love how each of Jackie's lessons fulfills everything I need. My son independently watches the lesson and chooses an activity of his choice. He usually does at least 2 of them. If I need to reinforce concepts, the research and images are there." Sara B., Homeschooling Parent

Day 5: Balancing Structure and Flexibility

  • Embrace strategic curriculum planning while honoring the "Follow the Child" mindset and an effective, harmonious teaching approach
  • Boost your confidence with 2+ months of your Botany unit topics laid out
  • Enjoy clarity and confidence in teaching high-level, experiential botany (This is about going beyond the Montessori botany album.)

"The impact of having months of science lessons organized is unbelievable. My stress levels are down, and my children are more engaged than ever." Rachel H., Homeschooling Parent

Who Will Be Leading You Through This Montessori Workshop Experience?

When I was in 5th grade, I received an “F” as a grade in science. This was especially shocking, coming from a family of medical and engineering professionals.

I felt like a complete failure.

My new middle school was located on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. If you crossed the small parking lot, there was a small, windy path that led to the tide pools and beach.

The day my middle school teacher brought us down to the tide pools was like a secret opening to a magical, unknown world. I don’t remember the assignment, but I vividly remember crouching down to watch tiny fish swim in and out of sea anemones. I saw crabs quickly scurrying across the rocks. I even found a dried-out shark egg case!

It was my inspiring middle school teacher who understood the power of experiential, hands-on learning, sparking my love for discovery. Now, as a teacher educator, I’m committed to helping you become that transformative educator.

Together, let’s simplify your teaching, save time, and reignite the spark of curiosity in the children. You are not just an educator. You’re a source of inspiration and confidence for both yourself and the children.

Jackie Grundberg's first career was as a wildlife biologist in Colorado, New York, and Cameroon after a university study abroad in Kenya.

Through her 25 years of teaching experiences at many different schools, observation of her own children's education, and now guiding adults earning their teaching credentials, she's passionate about lessening the gaps in science education with inquiry-based, hands-on, experiential higher-level learning.

Her work as an instructional guide with adults in a teacher education program guarantees she's skilled to move you forward confidently and successfully.

Are you ready to get your kids excited about science without being overwhelmed and frustrated by how to teach it?
